In the small town of Wilhelmsburg in Austria, Lilien began producing its iconic porcelain in the 1960s. The combination of simple elegance and durability has made the porcelain a popular choice in restaurants, cafés, and hotels around the world.
Each piece is unique thanks to the special manufacturing process where iron filings are added to the glaze before the porcelain is fired. This creates the beautiful, naturally speckled pattern, while the iron filings also contribute to its durability. Since the porcelain is hand-dipped in glaze, subtle variations in both color and pattern may occur, enhancing the individual charm of each piece. Small imperfections and beauty marks are part of the traditional craftsmanship, adding to the porcelain’s timeless and distinctive appearance.
